Island Insurance Specialists is an independent insurance firm located in Palm Harbor, Florida. Island Insurance Specialists was founded by Renee Smajek and Dianelys “Dee” Sanchez, who started their own company after having been in the business for more than 25 years combined. Their goal is to provide insurance with the highest level of professionalism without losing that personal touch.

Renee Smajek
Renee has over a decade of experience in the insurance industry. She strives to provide the best insurance possible and prides herself on the relationships she builds and has built with the people she serves and the providers as well. She takes the time to ensure you understand the policies you select, going over in detail any parts that may be hard to understand or confusing, to make sure you are educated, and are happy, with the policies you are getting. She is eager to answer any questions you may have.
Renee moved to the Tampa Bay Area from Chicago, Illinois in 2001. Florida’s warm climate and living the beach life was too enticing to pass up. She is the proud mother of a young, enthusiastic boy. When she is not working, most of her weekends are spent boating on Lake Tarpon and enjoying friends, family, and nature.

Dianelys “Dee” Sanchez
Dee has over 15 years of experience in the industry. She is someone you can trust. Her dedication to detail and unparalleled customer service has seen her getting top marks for every company she has previously worked for.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dee strives for excellence in everything she does, from helping customers to taking care of her family.
Born in Cuba, she immigrated to the US in 2001 with her mother. She is aware of the struggles many immigrants face, and she prides herself on being able to help them. Dee loves to spend time with her family and loves the outdoors. Fishing, boating or just walking in nature keeps her happy and content.
